ALAMOSA — San Luis Valley Rural Philanthropy Days participants enjoyed a block party on San Juan Avenue in Alamosa on Wednesday, Sept. 11.
From left to right are John Kelly with Serve Colorado, Jacob Rissler, Adams State University, and Lance Cheslock, La Puente. Serve Colorado is housed in Lt. Governor Dianne Primavera's office and oversees community-based organizations, including AmeriCorps Colorado.
Kelly said, "We love Rural Philanthropy Days because it is centered on community priorities. With such a strong presence of AmeriCorps in this region, it is important for us to be at this. We hear about the positive impact AmeriCorps has, and it is also important for us to hear about what we should be doing, investing AmeriCorps members and placing them to help the community."
Rural Philanthropy Days is a statewide program that brings skill-building, collaborative, and funding opportunities to nonprofits and community organizations through regional conferences. The gathering runs through Friday.
