Robert “Bobby” Lee Duran, 68, went to meet his heavenly father on Friday, September 22, 2017, in Farmington, New Mexico.
Bobby was born in his family home in Ortiz, CO on May 11, 1949 to Edith and Philimon Jiron. Bobby was raised on his grandfather’s ranch.
Later, Bobby attended Trinidad State Junior College and Adams State University in Alamosa, CO where he graduated with a bachelor’s in world history. While in Alamosa, Bobby owned his own business where he met Denise Mason in 1978.
Bobby and Denise were married January 15, 1985 in Alamosa where they started a family and moved to Bloomfield, NM in 1997.
For fourteen years Bobby worked and retired from the Daily Times in Farmington, NM.
Bobby spent his life making all those around him laugh and thoughtfully reflect upon life and the world around them. Bobby was a die-hard Broncos fan and a lover of music and classic movies. Family meant the world to him.
Bobby is preceded in death by his role models Johnny Carson, Groucho Marx, and Carey Grant, his mother Edith Duran Jiron, father Phil Jiron and stepmother Dorothy Jiron, sister Edith Jiron, and grandparents Marcos Duran and Elvira Gonzales.
Bobby is survived by his loving wife Denise Duran, son Marc Duran, daughter Nicole Duran-Jones, daughter-in-law Tamra Duran, son-in-law Nick Jones, and grandchildren Caleb Duran, Christopher Duran, Faith Shelton, Gabriella Duran, and Emma Jones, Bobby’s brother Larry Jiron and family, as well as all those he made laugh.
Bobby’s sense of humor, intelligent wit, and good looks will be missed by all who knew him.
Services are as follows: Rosary, 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 27th, at Cope Memorial Chapel; Memorial Service, 1:00 pm, Thursday, September 28th at Cope Memorial Chapel in Farmington, NM.
