Robert “Bob” Eugene Olson, longtime Del Norte resident, passed away Jan. 13, 2023, at the River Valley Inn Nursing home. He was born Dec. 6, 1924, in Galatia, Kan., to Lora Fern McMann Olson and Clyde Olson.
In his early years the dustbowl forced the family to relocate to Colorado. During his lifetime, Bob was a hard worker and spent many years laboring in the agricultural industry in Colorado, Arizona and California. He had many fond memories of his time in the Imperial Valley of southern California. He also worked at the sawmill in South Fork and talked often about his battling the massive fire when it was destroyed.
Bob was devoted to his mother until her passing. He took great pride in his genealogy and loved to talk about his family. He was dedicated to the Lord and greatly enjoyed reading the scriptures and church publications.
Bob has no survivors but was preceded in death by his mother, father, wife Lucille and brother Stanford Dale Olson. Thanks go out to all of Bob’s compassionate caregivers over the past several years.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 21, at 1 p.m., at the Del Norte branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with burial to follow in the Del Norte cemetery.
