Raquel Andres ‘Andy' Salazar

Mr. Raquel Andres "Andy' Salazar was born Sept. 21, 1952, to Pedro and Corelia Salazar in Antonito, Colo. He grew up with two siblings – Larry and Dorothy.

After graduating from Antonito High School in 1971, Andy became certified as an Operating Engineer with Local No. 9. He was dedicated to his many jobs. He worked as a rancher, photographer, retail employee, had his own lawn service (United Lawns), and the Colorado Plastic Card Incorporated. Andy was a part of the building crew of the Strontia Springs Dam. When the job was completed, he was awarded a beautiful belt buckle for his hard work and service. 

Andy was the most amazing husband to Bonnie Salazar. They met in 1983 and married in 1992. Living life as one, they soon welcomed their only son Drew (Raquel) in 1998. 

Raquel "Andy" leaves in his memory to cherish his wife, Bonnie Salazar, his only son Drew (Raquel) Salazar, Denver, Colo.; his sister, Dorothy Salazar, Antonito, Colo.; his brother, Larry Salazar, Antonito, Colo.; his niece, Gwen ( Brian Rael) Gutierrez, Albuquerque, N.M.; and great-niece, Domiana Gutierrez (Adan Gonzalez), Albuquerque, N.M. ; two aunts, Lucille, Huntsville, Ala., and Theresa, Untalan, Ind.; and one uncle, Eppie (Betsy) Jaramillo, Jackson, Miss.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro I.N. Salazar and Corelia Salazar, and grandparents, and great-grandfather Jose Griego.

Graveside services Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 9 a.m. at Ortiz Cemetery.
