Prescilla Maez

CAPULIN — Longtime Capulin resident Prescilla Maez, 86, passed away at the San Luis Valley Health Regional Medical Center on Sept. 10, 2019. Prescilla was born on Nov. 2, 1932 in Ortiz, Colorado to Rupert and Adelina Casias.

Prescilla enjoyed working with her hands doing things such as dancing, crocheting, quilting, and working on embroidering canvas.  She enjoyed spending time in the mountains, whether it be for hunting, camping, and fishing or just to enjoy the beautiful scenery with her loving husband Lorenzo. She was an amazing cook and enjoyed cooking for the family when they would come visit her.  Her greatest joy was just spending time with her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.

Prescilla is survived by her children; Lorenzo (Susanna) Maez of La Jara, Rachel Maez, of Alamosa, Anthony Maez of Brighton, Joe (Becky) Maez, of Alamosa, Robert Maez of Manassa, Laura Sandoval of Alamosa, Frank Maez of Espanola, New Mexico, Cecilia (Phillip) Medina of Capulin and Aguinaldo Maez of Pueblo.  Her siblings; Bernal (Martha) Casias, Angie Salazar, and Lorraine (Alfred) Scallion. As well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; Rupert and Adelina Casias.  Her loving husband, Lorenzo Maez, her son in law Clifford Sandoval, her grandsons, Joshua Maez and Kevin Garcia, her siblings; Rupert (Estephanita) Casias, Nemecino (Olivama) Casias, Maria Inez Allarid, and Lela Madrid.

A Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2019 at 7 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Capulin.  A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, Sept. 16, 2019 at 10 a.m. also at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Capulin.  Interment will follow services at the Capulin Cemetery.Rogers Family Mortuary of Alamosa is in charge of arrangements.
