In Loving Memory of Philip Anthony Cordova
Oct. 14, 1947 – March 2, 2025
Philip Anthony Cordova, 77, of Fort Garland, Colo., passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord on March 2, 2025. A devoted husband, proud father, cherished grandfather and great grandfather, Philip lived a life marked by love, service, and joy.
Born on Oct. 14, 1947, Philip’s early passion for baseball led him to become a two-time state champion — an achievement that sparked a lifelong love for the game.
He later answered a higher call, serving honorably in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, completing four tours of duty. His service reflected the very essence of who he was: courageous, resilient, and full of unwavering integrity.
Philip carried these values into every aspect of his life. He found happiness in the simple things — fishing, golfing, working in the yard, and going for long bike rides.
More than anything, he treasured time spent with his family. His sense of humor was unforgettable, his optimism infectious, and his words of encouragement often the motivation others needed to keep moving forward.
Philip had a gift for lifting others up and a habit of giving everyone a nickname — his unique way of making each person feel special and loved.
Philip was immensely proud of his children, grandchildren, and especially his great-grandchildren, Jericho and Madelyn, whom he spoke of often and with great affection.
His love and appreciation for his wife, Vicky, never went unspoken — he admired her deeply and shared that love openly with all who knew them.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Vicky Cordova; his children, Leslie (Luis) Corona, and Luke (Annette) Cordova; his grandchildren, Brianna, Abby (Angelo), Jessamy, Zachariah, Gabriel, Seth, and PJ; and his great-grandchildren, Jericho and Madelyn. He also leaves behind his sister, Juanita Borrego; brother, Carmel (Isabelle) Cordova; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Philip is reunited in eternal peace with his parents, Carmel and Bertha Cordova; his brothers, Larry, Christopher, and Eleuto; his sister, Barbara; and his son Philip E. Cordova.
A dual funeral service for Philip A. Cordova and his Son Philip E. Cordova will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 626 Beaubien, Fort Garland, CO 81133. Burial with Military Honors will follow at the Fort Garland Cemetery, with a reception afterward at the Blanca/Ft. Garland Community Center. If you can’t attend and would like to share some memories with the family, please let us know.
Philip’s legacy of love, strength, and positivity will live on in all who were blessed to know him.
