Peggy J Asher, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed away peacefully on April 28, 2025, at the age of 96. Born in McCamey, Texas, on Feb. 11, 1929, she lived a full and adventurous life, rich in love, laughter, and purpose.

She was the heart of a large and loving family, survived by her devoted daughter Cassandra Lynn (Ingerson) Wheeler, grandchildren Carrie, Cindy, Jeffrey, Leesa, Megan and Jason as well as 19 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren.

Known affectionately as "GiGi" to the little ones, "Grams" to most of her grandchildren and lovingly called "PA" by her granddaughter Mae. Her legacy also lives on through numerous nieces, nephews, and a wide extended family who will deeply miss her presence.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Asher, her son Austin William Ingerson and her daughter Susan Marie Ingerson Gallegos.

From the moment Peggy arrived in South Fork, Colo., in 1963, she fell in love with the Rocky Mountains and the San Luis Valley.

With her children married and located in different states, you could find her in her little yellow mustang on the road to Arizona, Texas, New Mexico, Oregon and Montana, however she always returned home to Colorado.

Aside from traveling she loved skiing, antiquing and visiting ruins, her favorite being Mesa Verde National Park. She shared most of her free time volunteering at the Saguache County Museum, and running her little antique shop The Bluebird Antiques.

Peggy's adventurous heart and boundless energy were an inspiration to those whose lives she touched.

Celebration of life services will be held at a later date.
