Peggy Jean Bell, age 90, peacefully left this world on Saturday, October 25, 2025. Born on February 27, 1935, in Waller County, Texas, Peggy lived a life marked by dedication, service, and compassion.
After a decade working in the insurance industry, Peggy spent thirty-six years in the medical field, applying her caring nature and strong work ethic to roles ranging from management to administration to academic oversight. She was the manager of a worker’s compensation medical clinic and concluded her professional journey managing the Cardiac Fellowship Program at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital in Houston.
Even in retirement, Peggy always maintained a busy lifestyle. She was a cherished member of the First Methodist Church in Weatherford and volunteered weekly for many years at Manna Storehouse, a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving those in need. Regarded by all who knew her as one of the world’s best cooks, she regularly delighted family and friends with her unforgettable feasts. In addition to her acts of service and culinary pursuits, Peggy found joy in caring for her corgis, sewing, and hosting her Thursday night game group.
Peggy’s deep respect for nature was evident in her more than six-decade-long love of the Conejos Canyon, where her cabin provided a joyful retreat for over fifty years. She was dedicated to her mountain community and spearheaded the creation of the Rocky Mountain Estates Community Fire House, a place for volunteer firefighters from the community to train, maintain equipment, and prepare for emergencies as well as a space for the entire community to gather for activities and events.
Peggy is lovingly remembered by her family, her many friends, and countless people whose lives she touched over the course of her long, multifaceted life. A graveside inurnment service will be held at the Curtis Cemetery in Weatherford, Texas, to celebrate her memory and the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.
