Mercy Vigil Salazar passed away on Dec. 17, 2022, at the age of 77. She was surrounded by her loving husband, kids, grandkids and great-grandkids during her final moments.
Mercy loved camping, fishing, taking rides in the mountains, cooking her famous green chile, playing Rummy, watching westerns and listening to Hank Williams. Most importantly, she loved her family. Mercy had a long and distinguished career working for Sanford Elementary School and left her impact on countless students.
She was preceded in death by her son, Herold Salazar; parents, Frutoso and Elena Vigil; parents-in-law, Filiberto and Delfina Salazar; brothers, Frank, Alfred and Melvin Vigil and sisters, Dahlia and Gloria Vigil. She is survived by her husband, Robert Salazar; her kids, Donna (Steve Pacheco) Casias, Sandra (Robert) Zamudio, Rick (Lisa) Salazar, Sharon Salazar; her grandkids, Angelo, Johnny, Kevin, Sheree, Katrina, Samuel, Marissa, Kieanna, Tahlia, Kalee and Ava; her great-grandkids, Monique, Janessa, Braelyn, Elena, Matthew, Caden, Camry, Makenna, Damian, Elias, Carter, Mya, Jayven, Ember, Brielle, Trace,and Coby Lee; sisters, Ruby, Helen and Marvine; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Vigil Service Will be held on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2022, at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday, Dec. 30, 2022, at 11 a.m. also at Our Lady of the Valley Church. Interment will follow at the Gate to Heaven Cemetery. Romero Funeral Home of Antonito is in care of the arrangements.
