Meet new Alamosa police officers

Posted

New Alamosa Police Department officers were introduced Wednesday night during the city council meeting. Alamosa Police Officer Daniel Northrup, above, is serving as the school resource officer for Trinidad State Junior College. He served 20 years in the Marines.

Evan Lopez came to the Alamosa Police Department from the Monte Vista Police Department where he served 16 years.

Ethan Haga recently completed police academy training. Originally from California, he moved to Alamosa from Gunnison.

San Luis Valley native Brandon Bertsch previously worked with the Alamosa County Sheriff’s Office.

Surprise proposal

Alamosa Police Officer Brandon Bertsch proposes to long-time girlfriend Miranda during the Alamosa city council meeting Wednesday night. Officer Bertsch was one of four new Alamosa Police Department officers introduced during the council meeting, and he took the opportunity to publicly thank Miranda for all of her support and dedication through his years of working, going to school and training — and to spring a surprise proposal. “I am blessed to have her,” he said.
