CAPULIN — Capulin resident Mary Jane Arellano, 78, passed away April 14, 2019 at the Conejos County Hospital with her loving family by her side.
Mary was born on Jan. 8, 1941 in Alamosa, Colo., the daughter of Timoteo Lucero and Anita Gallegos Lucero.
Mary was united in marriage to the love of her life, Jose Arellano on June 6, 1959.
The two shared a long, loving and happy union until her passing. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend who enjoyed knitting, reading, spending time at the ranch and with her husband and family. She will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her husband, Jose Arellano of Capulin, Colo.; daughters, Denise (Phillip) Arellano-Sloan of Pueblo, Colo. and Lorraine Arellano of California; sons, Adolph Arellano of Capulin, Colo., Lawrence Arellano of Alamosa, Colo. and Daniel (Frances) Arellano of Sugar City, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Linda Avila of Alamosa, Colo., Judy (Ray) Lucero of Antonito, Colo. and Lucille Ortega of Alamosa, Colo.; brothers, Manuel (Lupe) Lucero of California, Isaac (Josie) Lucero of Alamosa, Colo., Jim (Elaine) Lucero of California, Martin (Florence) Lucero and Michael (Angela) Stefano, the latter two both of Alamosa, Colo.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Timoteo and Anita Lucero; brother, Tommy Lucero; and sister, Cordy Tate.
Cremation was chosen and services will be held at a later date.
