Monte Vista resident Mary Gloria Manzanares, 89, passed away November 28, 2017 at the Homelake Veteran's Center with her loving family by her side. Mary was born on July 19, 1928 in Seven Mile Plaza, the daughter of Sacarias Martinez and Sara Valdez Martinez. Mary was united in marriage to the love of her life, Levi Manzanares on June 25, 1951 in Del Norte, Colorado. The two shared a long and happy union until her passing. Mary devoted her life to taking care of her family and being an exceptional wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, embroidering and spending as much time as she could with her family and friends making memories. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her loving husband Levi Manzanares of Monte Vista, CO; daughter Sylvia (Gilberto) Garcia of Santa Fe, NM; sons Duane (Carol) Manzanares of Monte Vista, CO; Cecil (Debbie) Manzanares of Modesto, CA; daughter-in-law Joann Manzanares of Broomfield, CO; grandchildren Brittany Manzanares, Krystal Manzanares, Marisol Garcia, Gilberto Garcia Jr. (Cimmaron), Gregory (Melody) Manzanares, Brent (Summer) Manzanares, Natasha (Josh) Hinchy, Nicole (Jethro) Tolentino, Raven (Kenny) Burgess, Andi (Mike) Julian, Alisha Manzanares, numerous great-grandchildren, one sister Catherine Chavez of Monte Vista, CO; brothers Ross (Marcella) Martinez, Eddie Martinez both of Las Vegas, NV. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents Sacarias and Sara Martinez, son Gregory Stephen Manzanares, two brothers Dario Martinez, Phil Martinez, one sister Lupe Archuleta and sister-in-law Margie Martinez.

A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Monday, December 4, 2017 at 7:00 PM at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at 10:00 AM also at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Homelake Cemetery. The care of arrangements have been entrusted to Romero Funeral Home of Monte Vista.
