In her own words, Mary Ellen David, “left this place” on Jan. 30, 2023, as she went to be with Jesus after beating COVID twice but losing a long, hard battle with cancer.
Born Dec. 6, 1938, to Victor and Mildred Anderson in Del Norte, Colo., Mary Ellen loved reading, word search and puzzles with her friends and family. But the highlight of her recent years was the trips to see her favorite singer, Charlie Pride, in Branson, Mo., and again at Schroeder Hall in Goliad County, Texas. Those trips, along with the cruise she shared with her family made her stretch her comfort zone, finding a love for flying. Something she could never see herself doing earlier in life. Mary Ellen spent many of her Saturday evenings watching the Daniel O’Donnell show and the Mollie B Polka Party on television.
Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her mother and father, her brother Bob Anderson and his wife Joann Wooley Anderson of Delta, Colo., her niece Pammy Jo Kuta, also of Delta and her husband of almost 60 years, Raymond David of Mosca, Colo.
She leaves behind her son’s Mark and his wife Kathy Carpenter David of Del Norte, Gary David of Arizona and Colorado, Lanny and his wife Stephanie Schwarz David of Fort Collins, Colo., and daughters Tammy and Randy Wright of Alamosa, Colo., and Amanda Stagner of Sanford, Colo.
Mary Ellen loved her friends and family, especially the 16 grandkids and 11 great-grandkids that she never could see enough of, and was especially proud of anything they made themselves and brought to grandma. Her tender spirit and loving nature ensured that she was always surrounded by her loving family and friends to the end.
