Mary Ann Valdez, 76, of Albany, formerly of Monte Vista, Colo., passed away peacefully in the comfort of her own home surrounded by her loving family on Feb. 18, 2024, in Albany.

ALBANY, NY — Mary Ann Valdez, 76, of Albany, formerly of Monte Vista, Colo., passed away peacefully in the comfort of her own home surrounded by her loving family on Feb. 18, 2024, in Albany.

The daughter of the late Joe P. and Evangelina F. Madril, Mary Ann was born on May 14, 1947, in Monte Vista, Colo. She was raised in Monte Vista, Colo., and has since lived in Coxsackie, NY, Beatrice, N.E., and lastly Albany, NY.

She earned a Bachelor's degree in Education/Spanish and became a first grade elementary school teacher for 30 years in Colorado until retirement.

Artistically gifted, Mary Ann enjoyed embroidery, computer puzzles, gardening, bird watching and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Lariat Community Baptist Church for many years and held her faith close to her heart.

She was the loving mother of: Arthur (Tammy) Valdez and Venus Jo Valdez.

Cherished grandmother of: Anika Moe, Anthony Peek, Genesis Fielder, Javier Fuentes, Raquel Fuentes, Amberly Valdez and Annabelle Valdez, and great-grandmother of: Lila Peek, Sophia Peek, Karsen Peek, Logan Benkufsky, Talia Moe, Adrian Fuentes and Legend Fielder. Dearest sister of: Roger (Pauline) Archuleta, Jake Archuleta, Fred Madril and the late Patricia Chavez (Rene).

Mary Ann’s family is forever grateful to: George Fielder, Laura Sanson and Brittany Peek for their compassion and care.

Cremation has taken place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc. The Valdez Family has chosen to honor Mary Ann’s memory and mourn their loss in private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mary Ann’s memory may be directed to: the Lariat Community Baptist Church in Monte Vista, Colo.
