Mark Aaron Richardson, 55, died May 23, 2025, in the mountains he loved and grew up in. He was born in La Jara, Colo., on July 4, 1969, to Norman (Connie) Richardson and Laura Elizabeth "Liz" Richardson.
He was the youngest of five siblings - Sharon (Tim) Crowther, Steven Richardson, Brenda Richardson, and Wade (Maria) Richardson.
Mark married Karen (Malouff) Richardson on March 16, 1996. During their 29 years of marriage, (30 years) together, they shared adventures, did numerous projects, traveled, worked together, raised their family and lived.
Mark had four children, Elizabeth "Joy", James Joseph, Kristen Erin (Cody Bradshaw), and Owen Michael Richardson. Plus, all his adopted kids, he loved you all. He was "Papa" to grandson Jace Joseph Bradshaw. He had 10 nieces, 12 nephews, five great-nephews and three great-nieces.
During his lifetime, he worked as an outfitter, police officer, mechanic, carpenter, handyman, bartender, and chef.
Mark loved his family and friends, enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing, camping, cooking, coaching and when he could not get to the great outdoors, he was an avid reader, enjoyed wood working, playing computer games (Pirate Storm), keeping up with family/friends and traveling to new and favorite places.
He was preceded in death by his mother Liz Richardson and cousin Greg Richardson, Tim Wittney along with other aunts and uncles.
We will all miss him greatly. He chose cremation and a Life Celebration potluck and BBQ, which we will hold on his birthday July 4, 2025, from noon-4 p.m. at Red Bear Haus, 38 Forest Service Rd. 250, Antonito, CO 81120. With fireworks in Sanford after dark weather and fire ban permit.
