Maria E. Quintana, a beloved resident of Capulin, Colo., passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025. Born on April 11, 1966, Maria dedicated her life to serving others, most notably as the Activities Director at Evergreen Nursing Home.

There, she found joy in treating her residents like family, offering warmth, companionship, and care that touched many lives.
Maria had a vibrant spirit and zest for life. She loved cooking and baking, often bringing smiles through her delicious creations.

Known for her playful nature, she enjoyed “goofing around” and treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren, who brought immense happiness to her days.

Her family was her heart, and she embraced her role as wife, mother, sister, and grandmother with unwavering love.

She was also passionate about giving back to the community and generously volunteered her time with the Alzheimer’s Association, reflecting her compassionate nature and desire to make a difference.

Maria’s love for cheeseburgers was well known and fondly remembered by family and friends alike — a small but cherished part of her joyful personality.

She is lovingly survived by her husband, Michael Quintana Sr.; her children, Shanna (Cesar Moreno) Quintana and Michael (Angela) Quintana Jr.; her siblings Rudy (Dagmar) Ortiz, Ronnie (Sandy) Ortiz, Dora (Orlando) Mondragon, and Frank (Marcie) Ortiz; and her cherished grandchildren Ethan Moreno, Lexi Vasquez, Mercedes Melendez, Elias Melendez, Angeleah Vasquez, Alex Vasquez, Macy Quintana, and Malachi Quintana.
