Bloomfield, New Mexico former Romeo resident Louis Antonio Martinez, 88, passed away December 5, 2022, at his home under hospice care with his loving family at his side.
Louis was born on May 8, 1934, in Romeo, Colorado, the son of Luis Martinez and Virginia Quintana Martinez. Louis enlisted, served and was a veteran of the United States Army. After he completed his duties and was Honorable Discharged, he went on to marry the love of his life, Bernice Manzanares on June 12, 1963. The shared and happy and loving union of almost 60 years. He was a member of the American Legion. when he had free time, Louis enjoyed watching reading, woodworking, going fishing and spending as much time as possible with his family, especially his grandsons. He also enjoyed taking care of his animals. Louis was an exceptional man and he will be dearly missed.
He will live on through his loving wife Bernice Martinez, daughters Brenda Smith of Farmington, NM; and Sylvia Martinez of Bloomfield, NM;, sons James (Olivia) Martinez, Rosendo Joseph (Caroline) Martinez both of Bloomfield, NM; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, sister Emma Quintana, Stella Rivera and one brother Joe Martinez. He is also survived by numerous other extended family members and friends.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents Luis and Virginia Martinez, infant daughter Bernadette Martinez as well as many brothers and sisters.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at 10 a.m. at the Capulin Assembly of God Church in Capulin. Interment will follow at the Gomez Cemetery with full military honors.
