It is with great joy and yet sadness that her children Rebecca Margaret Rodriguez and Levinia Isabel Rodriguez announce the death of their mother “Lizzie” Rodriguez (San Luis, Colo.) of Alamosa, Colo., who peacefully passed away on Feb. 5, 2023, at the age of 83 years old after a long battle with Dementia. She will always be fondly remembered, deeply loved, and missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents Edward Lucero, Robert Valdez, Sr.-Step father and Telesfora Gonzales Valdez, and her husband Joseph Levi Rodriguez, whom she married Dec. 31, 1956, in Pueblo, Colo., and brothers “Bobby” Robert Valdez, Jr. and Rogelio “Roger” Valdez, and partner Margarito Villagomez of Alamosa, Colo.
She is survived by her sister Esther Valdez of Pueblo, Colo., Ruben (Kelly) Valdez of Ramah, Colo., Procopio “Cooper” (Jean) Valdez of Colorado Springs, and Jerry Valdez of Pueblo, Colo., her children Rebecca (Matthew) Rodriguez, and grandchildren Rocky Aaron (Jessica Villa) Villagomez, great-grandchildren Jase and Jayda Smith, Jemma Villagomez; Rachel Alisa (Ezekial Isaac) Padilla and great-grandchild Nyheim Lael Levi Padilla, Levinia Rodriguez and grandchildren, Naomi (Matthew) Timmons, Shelah (husband) Hayes, and Micah Hayes.
Lizzie was so very full of life, had a strong work ethic, and loved her Lord Jesus Christ; for her to live was Christ in action. Lizzie was a homemaker by trade and greatly enjoyed being with her family and friends at celebrations, camping/fishing trips, she enjoyed long walks with her family and friends in the outdoors, her doggie pets, and riding in her Four-Runner visiting family, friends and going to her “Tree” Dollar Store. She loved crocheting, crafting, cooking and baking for her family, gardening, and of course fishing. She was the best tortilla, green chili and beans maker in the whole world, and the ultimate fishing “caster”; we even knew she would repeatedly catch two trout on one line.
She was always available to help others in any way and in times of need; she was a loving and compassionate lady. She loved God and her family above all else. She was our Queen!
Lizzie’s physical body is gone, but her beautiful spirit, lovely smile and loving heart, and all of the loving memories will live on forever into the future generations.
A memorial service will be held in the near future when the weather warms. Information of the Memorial service will be released soon.
