Monte Vista resident Lillian Marge Salazar, 72, passed away Jan. 22, 2023, at her home with her loving family by her side. Lillian was born on April 2, 1950, in Wyoming, the daughter of Tomas Duran and Margie (Cordova) Duran.
After she graduated high school, she went on to work as a home care provider for many years. She enjoyed helping others.
She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Harold Salazar on Feb. 7, 1970, for 52 years. They shared a happy and loving union. Lillian was an exceptional wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.
She enjoyed embroidering, baking, cooking, gardening, playing cards and going to bingo. She loved to listen to Spanish music.
Her greatest joy in life came from the time she spent with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Harold Salazar of Monte Vista, Colo.; daughters Irma (George) Ruybal of Albuquerque, N.M.; Yvette Salazar of Monte Vista, Colo.; sons Thomas Salazar, Martea (Davinya) Salazar both of Monte Vista, Colo.; Jessie (Toni) Salazar of Alamosa, Colo.; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, sister Elicia (Orlando) Salazar of Albuquerque, N.M.; brother Benny (Sarah) Duran of Monte Vista, Colo. She is also survived by many other extended family members and friends.
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Andy Duran, Rudy Duran and Billy Duran.
Viewing and visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2023, from 12-4 p.m. at the Romero Funeral Chapel in Alamosa. Vigil Service will be held on Friday, Jan. 27, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 11 a.m., both at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Alamosa. Interment will be at the Alamosa Cemetery.
