ALAMOSA — The third interfaith Lenten Luncheon for 2018 will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church, 607 Fourth St., Alamosa, at noon March 7 by the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Nancy Mead officiating.
Luncheons begin with a brief church service conducted by the church giving the luncheon.
The Lenten luncheons are held at St. Thomas, a central location to the business district, to allow workers to take their lunch hour to attend a 15-20-minute service conducted by the church hosting the luncheon that day. They are scheduled so that participants can be free to go back to work by 1 p.m. Some services are conducted by the pastors of the churches serving the meal, others by church members. The meal, usually consisting of soup and bread with perhaps a salad and dessert, is open to everyone.
The remaining luncheon schedule follows:
*March 14—First Presbyterian Church
*March 21--Roman Catholic Church
The luncheon is not held during Holy Week.
