ALAMOSA — United States Air Force veteran, Technical Sergeant (Retired) Larry P. Lemen, 82, died in Alamosa June 24, 2019.

TSgt Lemen was born in Denver, in 1937, and enlisted in the military at the end of the Korean war. A Vietnam-era veteran, TSgt Lemen was also one of America’s Atomic veterans. He deployed throughout Southeast Asia and the Pacific as a technician supporting United States atmospheric atomic radiation testing programs. During his military service TSgt Lemen married his sweetheart, Evelyn Lemen, née Hunt, who traveled with him to duty locations such as Okinawa, Japan. After retiring from the military, they settled in Alamosa where he ran an electronics business and then a woodworking business. He also volunteered for a time with The Alamosa County Search and Rescue. These enterprises allowed him the opportunity to travel all across the valley and into the surrounding mountains that he loved so much.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Evelyn M. Lemen, his son Larry P. Lemen Jr. his daughter Ramona L. Miranda who is married to Julian Miranda, and three grandchildren by his son David R. Lemen, who precedes him in death.

A memorial service will take place at Grace Assurance Ministry, 9851 County Rd 4 S, Alamosa, on Saturday, July 6 at 1 p.m. Donations in lieu of flowers can be sent to Disabled American Veterans, DAV.
