Larry L. Mitchell, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Jan. 13, 2023, at the age of 82. When he went to be with the Lord, he was surrounded by his wife Ann and family. Larry was born December 1940 in Moffat, Colo., and lived a bountiful life in Alamosa, Colo., Woodland Park, Colo., and most recently Las Cruces, N.M.
Larry was a successful farmer, rancher, and businessman. If Larry wasn’t in the mountains, he stayed busy improving acquired properties or meeting up with friends at the local coffee shop to tell stories, crack jokes, and make deals. He had very strong values and was well liked by everyone, mostly due to his positive energy. Always open to adventure and opportunity, Larry lived a full life creating many fond memories with family and friends. He enjoyed traveling to destinations near and far with his wife and dear friends. But foremost, Larry was a caring husband, father, and grandfather ensuring his kids were taught the value of hard work.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Ann Mitchell and three sons Randy (Jeri), Rod (Kari), and Mark (Dori). Forever cherished and remembered by his seven grandchildren, Katelyn, Joshua, Jeremiah, Elle, Brynn, John, Tim, two great-grandchildren, Clayton, and Aiden, as well as his sister Bertha Dobson, and many nieces and nephews who were special to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Leta Mitchell, and siblings Robert Mitchell and Evelyn Wolf.
No formal funeral services will be held as the family will lay Larry to rest on his private property in Alamosa Canyon. In lieu of flowers or sentiment, donations can be sent in Larry’s honor to the Mesilla Valley Hospice, 299 Montana Ave, Las Cruces, NM 88005.
