ALAMOSA – The Alamosa High School girls golf team hosted its annual tournament Wednesday at Cattails Golf Course with the Lady Mean Moose finishing in second place.

Alamosa had a team score of 289 and it was led by Morgan Ortega who finished in third place with a 91. Taybor Wiedeman placed sixth with a 98, Hallie Henry was 12th with a 100, Jayla Quintana was 18th with a 104, and Kiara Gallegos was 30th with a 116.

Alamosa also had a second team which finished fifth with 319. It was led by Paloma Zahringer who was eighth with a 99, Khloe Spangler who was 14th with a 102, and Addison Rice who was 32nd with a 118.

Monte Vista placed fourth with 311. Kiera Sanchez led the Lady Pirates as she was eighth with a 99, followed by Brooke Hoffstaetter who was 14th with a 102, Ellaree Rockey who was 20th with a 110, Laura Stroy who was 22nd with a 111, and Zariah Archuleta who was 37th with a 123.

The Lady Pirates also entered a second team which did not record a team score. Destiny Pacheco was 26th with a 112, and Kaitlynn Roberts was 35th with a 121.

Montezuma-Cortez won the tournament with 256. Fowler was third with 300.

Cortez’s Amita Crowley and Chesnie Patrick tied for medalist honors as both shot an 82.

Alamosa will next compete at the Rye Invitational on Friday. The tournament begins at 9 a.m. at Hollydot Golf Course.

Both Alamosa and Monte Vista will return to Cattails on Tuesday for the Class 3A Region 4 Tournament which begins at 9 a.m.
