Manassa resident, Kathy Lee Thompson died on October 13, 2017 in Alamosa, CO with family and friends by her side.

She was born on August 19, 1947 in Center, Colorado to William Allen (Bill) Davis and Shirley Mae (Shumaker) Davis.

Kathy was a loyal friend with a heart of gold. She was an excellent cook, a seamstress, a reader, a lifelong student, environmentalist, geologist, animal lover, her smile and laughter could light up a room and she devoted much of her time to her family genealogy.

She held many jobs throughout the years and she was always willing to do whatever was necessary to get the job done.  She worked for the U.S. Soil Conservation Service in Alamosa and as a veterinary technician. She also worked as a nurse, waitress, housecleaner, personal care provider for elderly, as well as a House of Lloyd representative and party consultant.

She rescued and welcomed strays of all types, and always had room for one more, whether it be a person, a dog, or a cat, she loved them all.  A passionate animal rescuer, she created a feral cat sanctuary in her yard.  She volunteered and assisted many of the local animal rescue organizations for years to find homes for stray animals.  She also worked with local organizations and assisted with catching stray and feral cats and using her modest resources to have them spayed and neutered.

She loved her family, friends and pets, but her favorite role was being a grandma.  She would do anything for her grandchildren and loved them with her whole heart. She especially enjoyed adventures in the mountains with her grandkids teaching them about rocks, arrowheads and geology.

She was preceded in death by both parents Bill and Shirley Davis of Monte Vista, CO.

She is survived by her 3 children, daughter Nancy Cutter of Alamosa, CO; sons William R. (Bill) Cutter of Nederland, CO; Forrest, (Molly) Cutter of Nederland, CO; her brothers, Herb Davis; Frank Davis of Montana, and John Travis of Del Norte, CO; grandchildren, Shay Burton; Cheyenne Rose; Quest Cutter; Sabra Cutter; Ivy Cutter; Richard Damewood; Jamie Damewood, 2 great-grandchildren, numerous friends and her beloved fur babies.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation was chosen and arrangements are being handled by Romero Funeral Home in Alamosa. A celebration of life and memorial potluck will be held at the North Pavilion of Cole Park in Alamosa, CO on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at 12:00 p.m.
