Karen Rae Morgan


Karen Rae Parker Morgan, 81, passed away peacefully in her home from stage IV breast cancer on January 1, 2019 while under Hospice care.

Karen was born on April 4, 1937, in Manassa, Colorado to Benjamin Franklin Parker and Emma Arletta Christensen Parker, and was the youngest of seven children. She graduated from Manassa High School in 1955.  In 1960 she served as a missionary in the Netherlands Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She married Lowell G. Morgan, in the Salt Lake Temple on June 27, 1963. They made their home in Sanford, CO where they raised 6 children.

Karen always made her family a priority and selflessly served them until the very end. She served in many callings in the church. Her favorite callings were serving in the Primary.  She faithfully served with her husband in the Albuquerque temple for several years. Karen loved gardening, canning, and family history. She was a gifted seamstress. She loved quilting and made beautiful quilts for her children and grandchildren.

Karen is survived by her children; Sheri (Leslie) Crowther of Sanford, CO, Jennifer (Robert) Timmons, of Buckeye, AZ, David (Carol) Morgan of Sanford, CO, George (Melissa) Morgan of Loveland, CO, Melinda (Kory) Russell of Sanford, CO, K. Lynne Morgan of Sanford, CO, and her sister, Nadine Buhr of Logan UT. She is also survived by 28 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Karen is preceded in death by her husband Lowell G. Morgan, grandchild Joshua Morgan, her parents, siblings; Aloah Hutchins, Elwin Frank Parker, Llewina Hart, John Henry Parker, and Emmajene P. Romero.

Viewing will be from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. on Saturday January 5, 2019 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Sanford, Colorado with a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Sanford Cemetery.
