Joyce Kay McFarland

Joyce Kay McFarland, a beacon of love and selflessness, graced this world with her presence on March 31, 1950, in the quaint town of Saguache, Colorado. Her journey on earth came to a peaceful close on March 23, 2025, in Alamosa, Colorado, surrounded by the love of her family and the beauty of the land she cherished.

Born into the heart of Colorado, Joyce's life was a testament to the power of nurturing and devotion. She married her soulmate, John McFarland, in the picturesque town of Creede, Colorado on June 6, 1969, and together they built a life filled with joy and purpose. Joyce's legacy is carried on through her beloved husband, her daughters Holly and Joni McFarland, her adoring grandchildren Shalynn and Brandon, Tanner, Walker and Destiny, and Morgan, and her cherished great-grandson Stetson. Her sisters Opal Warr and Kathy Maez, along with a tapestry of nieces, nephews, and friends, also hold her memory close to their hearts.

Joyce's life was a portrait of dedication, both to her family and the family farm. She was the heartbeat of the homestead, driving tractors, managing irrigation, and providing support with a smile that could outshine the Colorado sun. Her hands, always ready to help, were equally skilled in nurturing the growth of her garden's vibrant flowers as they were in supporting her children's 4-H projects when they were younger. Joyce's love for her family was the glue that bound them together, creating a legacy of unity that shone brightest during birthdays and holidays.

Her passions were simple yet profound. Joyce found joy in the earth's beauty, cultivating a garden that was full of color and life. The hollyhocks she raised were not just flowers; they were symbols of her enduring love. Her home was a sanctuary where the aroma of her famously good coffee welcomed all. Joyce's laughter and warmth filled the rooms, and her trusty pit bull, Bebo, was a constant companion in her moments of leisure.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, her infant children Amy and John, her grandson Gunner Andrews, and her two brothers-in-law Don Warr, and Claude Maez.
