CAPULIN – John J. Quintana, 88, a beloved pillar of his community, born under the Colorado sun in Capulin on the 29th day of June 1936, to Jose and Maria (Trujillo) Quintana. He was called home to the Lord's embrace on the 22nd day of November 2024.
John lived a life of faith, love and service, embodying the values he cherished most. A gifted mechanic, welder and carpenter, his hands built more than machines, they built a legacy of dedication and craftsmanship. John's Auto Sales and Repair was more than a business – it was a place where his sons learned lifelong skills, friendships were forged, and his passion for helping others shined brightly.
John's heart was as vast as the Colorado sky, filled with love for his cherished family. He shared a lifetime of devotion with his beloved wife, Vayola E. Quintana, and together they raised a beautiful family: Maria Jacquez, Evangeline Espinosa, Johnnie (Cindy) Quintana, Carol Gurule, Phyllis (Rafael) Baez, and Amanda (Brian) Gurnsey. His legacy lives on through the smiles of his 29 grandchildren, the joy of his 55 great-grandchildren, and the tender smiles of his three great-great-grandchildren.
He also carried a deep love for his brothers, Jimmy and Luther Quintana, brother-in-law Vicente Gallegos, sisters-in-law Ruth Quintana and Jenny Quintana and countless nieces and nephews who brightened his days.
Though John endured loss, including his parents, his children Joseph, Lucille, Gilbert, Ivan, and Jaunita Quintana, and his siblings, Celia Ortega, Viola Gallegos, Jose and Ernest Quintana, his steadfast faith sustained him.
A man of many talents and a love for life, John found joy in gardening, which brought beauty to the earth. John also loved to travel with his wife, Vayola. Together they created a tapestry of cherished memories. His life was a testament to hard work, unwavering faith, and unconditional love.
John J. Quintana leaves a legacy of strength and a deep love for family. His absence will be deeply felt, but his spirit will forever be a guiding light. John will be dearly missed and will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
