MONTE VISTA — Monte Vista resident Jesus Lopez-Martinez, 92, went to his eternal rest on Dec. 7, 2019 at the San Luis Valley Regional Center surrounded by his loving family.

Jesus was welcomed into the world on Sept. 5, 1927 in El Rodeo Calvillo-Aguascalientes, Mexico, the son of Juan Lopez Luna and Maria Del Refugio Martinez-Esparza.

Jesus worked for the railroad industry and was a farmer for many years.

When he wasn’t working on the farm, he enjoyed attending church, prayer groups, family activities and going to Mexico on vacation.

Jesus was a member of the Sacred Heart prayer group. He was extremely proud of his children for their accomplishments in their business endeavors. He will be dearly missed.

He will live on through his wife Maria Ruiz-Delgado of Monte Vista; daughters Maria Auxilio Lopez-Ruiz (Ruben Serrano) of Aguascalientes, Mexico; Maria Guadalupe Lopez-Ruiz (Manuel Serna) of Monte Vista; Maria Del Refugio Lopez-Ruiz (Teodoro Sandoval) of Aguascalientes, Mexico; Elvaluz Lopez-Ruiz (Fernando Bon) of Aguascalientes, Mexico; Juana Maria Lopez-Ruiz (Salvador Martinez) of Yukon, Okla.; sons Jose De Jesus Lopez-Ruiz (Maria Lourdes Lopez) of Alamosa; Martin Daniel Lopez-Ruiz (Luz Maria Lopez) of Monte Vista. He is also survived by  numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; brother Pedro Lopez-Martinez of Calvillo, Mexico, sister Luz Maria Lopez-Martinez of Aguascalientes, Mexico. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Jesus was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Jose Maria Lopez-Martinez, Jesus Lopez-Martinez, Maria Lopez-Martinez and Hilario Lopez-Martinez.

A viewing and visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 13, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Romero Funeral Chapel in Monte Vista.

A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will at 7 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monte Vista.

Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2019 at 10 a.m. also at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
