Jessie Allen Vigil, beloved father, brother, and friend, passed away on March 17, 2025, at the age of 67. He was born on Feb. 28, 1958, to Manuel Vigil and Alice Montano Vigil. Jessie was a proud father to his son, Ervin DeLuna.
Jessie dedicated much of his life to agriculture and farming, where he found fulfillment in nurturing the land. In addition to his professional endeavors, he cherished his hobbies, which included fishing, hunting, gambling, music, and attending horse races. He had a profound appreciation for the great outdoors and loved spending time in the mountains. Above all, Jessie treasured the moments shared with his loving family.
He is survived by his son, Ervin DeLuna, and his siblings: Jenny Archuleta and Tony, Bernice Lucero and Richard, Kathy Muniz, Marie Vigil and Lee, Diane Pacheco, Patrick Vigil and Connie, Ronnie Vigil and Carla, Kenneth Vigil, Debbie Daily and Byron, and Emily Vigil, and Manuel Vigil. Jessie was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Alice Vigil; his brothers Ricky Vigil, and Robert Vigil; and his sisters Violet Vigil, Lynzie Vigil, and Verna Vigil. He is also mourned by his nephews, Louis Vigil, Ronnie Vigil, Justin Madrid; and nieces Berlinda Lopez and Julie Salazar.
A viewing will be held on March 21, 2025, from 12 to 4 p.m. at Romero Valley Funeral Home in Alamosa. A rosary will take place on Saturday, March 22, at 12:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Alamosa, followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at the Alamosa Cemetery.
