Longtime Garcia resident Jeffrey Juan Segura, 52, took his eternal rest on June 16, 2024. Jeff was welcomed into the world on Dec. 18, 1971, the son of Juan Segura and Rose (Barela) Segura.
After he graduated high school, Jeffrey went on to work doing various jobs in the community. His most recent work led him to work with lots of community members at the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center. He loved meeting new people and making friends anywhere he could.
He was very outgoing and will forever be remembered for his kind, caring nature. In his free time, Jeff loved to go fishing and ride his Harley Davidson. He was an animal lover and he especially loved dogs. He was the most amazing father his three children could ask for. Anytime he had free time to spend with them, he took advantage of that. They were his world.
Jeffrey was preceded in death by both his maternal and paternal sets of grandparents, brother Nathan Segura as well an many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
All of what we loved about Jeffrey will continue to live on through his parents Juan and Rose Segura of Garcia, Colo.; daughters Celina Segura, Maria Segura, son Moises Segura, grandchildren Miguel Segura and Lilly Segura, sister Teresa (Jesse) Maestas of Alamosa, Colo.; brother Josh (Sarah) Segura of Alamosa, Colo.; nieces and nephews Nathan Jr., Jesse Jr., Ashley, Zoey, Isabella, Shania and Jenna, sister-in-law Maisie Baca of Valencia, NM. He is also survived by numerous extended family members and friends.
A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at 6 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Garcia. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at the same church on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at 12 p.m. Cremation will follow, and burial will be held at a later date, but a reception will follow church services at Costilla Parish Hall.
