It is with a saddened heart to announce the passing of our Father, James Clinton Hurt, 89, of Holtville, Calif., who passed on Oct. 29, 2024. James was the first child born to Allen and Catherine Hurt of Center, Colo., on July 10, 1935, in Saguache Colo.
James graduated from high school in Center, Colo., and graduated from Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colo., with a BS degree in Entomology.
Throughout the 69 years of marriage, Jim and Betty built their Entomologist business Crop Protection Service. James enjoyed all kinds of fishing, hunting and coaching baseball and sports. He loved animals especially FFA sheep, 4-H pigs, and dogs.
He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Lou Hurt (87) on Oct. 15, 2024; parents; Allen and Catherine Hurt, and grandson Heath Michael Schreck.
He is survived by Bill Hurt (Jean), and Myralee Diffendaffer (Melvin).
James was a supportive husband to his wife of 69 years, Betty Lou Hurt. James was proud of his children's accomplishments; Steave Hurt (Anne), Sheila Hurt Sparks, Sharon Hurt Schreck (Michael), Rayleen Hurt Strahm (Loren), Grandchildren; Tessi Rene Hurt, Tara Sparks, Jimmy Sparks, Tamara Carrillo (Luis), Heath Schreck, Derek Schreck, (Amanda), Kalee Schreck (Reid Mattive), Eric Strahm (Shaina) and Matthew Strahm (Chelsey). James was a very proud Great-Grandfather of 12 great-grandchildren; Rayna Gonzales, Axel Schreck, Elise Schreck, Adam Strahm, Allie Strahm, Quinn Strahm, Cohen Strahm, Tanner Strahm, Callahan Strahm, Logan Carrillo, Callum Mattive, and (DJ) Darren James Sparks.
We will dearly miss our father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather. He is at peace and smiling down upon all who were graced to be a part of his life.
Cremation has been chosen and there will be no services for James Clinton Hurt at this time.
