CREEDE — Creede Repertory Theatre (Creede Rep) announces the return of “Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol” by Tom Mula to the Ruth Humphreys Brown Theatre in Creede, playing Nov. 24 through Dec. 16. This production stars Creede Rep favorite Lavour Addison in a one-person version of the show.

Marley was dead, to begin with…but what happens to Ebenezer Scrooge’s old business partner after that? Chained and shackled, Marley is condemned to a hellish eternity, tormented by a malicious little hell-sprite. Desperate to escape his fate, he sets out on a fantastical mission to redeem Scrooge and thus free himself.

“I’ve always loved this take on the Dickens’ classic, A Christmas Carol,” says interim artistic director, Kate Berry. “Redemption takes many forms and Marley makes the choice to help Scrooge, at first selfishly, but then goes on to learn so much about himself in the process. And this time, we imagine the play with just one versatile actor, which is how playwright Tom Mula originally envisioned the show. We can’t wait to share it with our audience.”

The production takes advantage of Creede Rep’s multi-talented staff with direction by interim artistic director, Berry; scenic design by Morgan M. Manfredi (Managing Director); lighting design by Jake Harbour (Director of Production and Facilities); props design by Jenni Harbour (Education Director) and stars Addison (“An Iliad,” “Ken Ludwig’s Sherwood: The Adventures of Robin Hood,” “Clue: On Stage,” “The Royale”). Addison will tackle nearly 20 characters in this delightful and heart-warming show.

“Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol” opens during Creede’s annual Chocolate Festival over Thanksgiving weekend; and don’t miss Creede’s Holiday Market on Saturdays through mid-December.

Show times are 7 p.m. on Fridays and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturdays between Nov. 24 and Dec. 16. Tickets start at $25 for adults and $10 for children.
