ALAMOSA — Colorado Attorney General Cynthia Coffman and members and staff of the Colorado Peace Officer Standards and Training Board (POST) welcomed Alamosa County Sheriff Robert Jackson to the POST Board on Monday, January 7.
Sheriff Jackson was born and raised in Oregon, before moving to northern
California where he served as one of the first certified EMT’s in the region. Jackson worked for an ambulance company, eventually becoming the operations manager.
Jackson and his wife moved to the Monte Vista area and Jackson was hired by the
Alamosa Police Department in January of 1984, after attending CLETA. Jackson served with the Alamosa Police Department for 31 years, 18 of which he was a member of the Command Staff, including as Deputy Chief. Jackson’s service includes a history of training as a Firearms Instructor.
Jackson was first elected as sheriff in 2014 and just won re-election for a second term in November 2018.
He will attend his first POST board meeting on March 1.
