Monte Vista resident Vickie Ann Romer gained her angel wings on April 30, 2025. She was born on Aug. 8, 1967, to Marion Welborn in Pierre, S.D. Vickie was a devoted mother to her two daughters, who were her world.
She had a passion for crossword puzzles, loved Conway Twitty, and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.
Vickie cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and loved being with her family, often enjoying shopping trips together.
Her legacy will live on through her daughters, Cathrine Martinez and Amanda Ortega, and her son-in-law, Gene Ortega. Vickie is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Alicia Winters, Elijah Lopez, Isaac Sierra, Evalynn Arellano, Angelo Sierra, Kai Ortega, Felix Ortega, Aleena Ortega, and Alyssa Ortega.
She is further survived by her siblings: Lisa Olesen, Brenda (Terry) Cooper, Rick Olesen, Jerry (Susan) Olesen, Liza Duran, and Alta (Matt) Polich, along with one niece and four nephews, as well as numerous extended family and friends.
Vickie was preceded in death by her mother, Marion Welborn.
A viewing will be held on May 9, 2025, at Romero Valley Funeral Home of Alamosa from 12 to 4 p.m. Celebration of Life will be on May 10, 2025, also at Romero Valley Funeral Home at 2 p.m.
