SANFORD — Sanford resident Howard Claud Galvez, Jr., 54, passed away April 20, 2019 at the Penrose Medical Center under Hospice Care surrounded by his loving family.
Howard was welcomed into the world on May 17, 1964 in Denver, Colo., the son of Howard Claude Galvez, Sr. and Pauline Armenta Galvez.
Howard worked in law enforcement since 1990 and was elected as Sheriff for Conejos County in 2013, where he became well known and active in the community.
When he wasn’t on duty Howard loved spending as much time as he could with his family and friends outdoors hunting, fishing and camping.
He will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his mother, Pauline Galvez of La Jara; mother of his children, Kristina Galvez of Denver; daughters, Samantha Galvez of Sanford and Sierra Galvez of Denver; son, Antonio Cruz of Sanford; sister, Christina Galvez of Rockwall, Texas; brother, Steve Armenta of Saguache. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Howard was preceded in death by his father, Howard Claude Galvez, Sr.; two brothers; Jimmy Galvez and Bob Armenta.
