A few days ago the freight train from the San Luis Valley east over La Veta Pass experienced a derailment at the crossing of Sangre de Cristo Creek where five rail cars carrying grain derailed onto their side. Iowa Pacific Holdings responded to the Sangre de Cristo Ranch Owners Association on Tuesday that the company was aware of the problem and would be cleaning up the debris.
