Gloria Casilda Gonzales, 80, of Alamosa, Colorado went to be with the Lord on August 29, 2018.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Sarah Lopez; Husband, Rudolph E. Gonzales; brother, Bonney Lopez; and sisters-in-laws, Joanne Lopez and Lucille Lopez. Gloria is survived by her son, Kelly Dwayne Gonzales; brother, Eddie Lopez; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Gloria was born in Alamosa and lived in the San Luis Valley her entire life. She graduated from Alamosa High School and married Rudy Gonzales in 1955. Rudy and Gloria lived in New Mexico for a brief period before moving to Antonito in 1963 eventually residing in Alamosa in 1973 where they remained. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2005 with friends and family and were married for 54 years until Rudy’s passing in 2009. Gloria loved music, playing the piano and the accordion. Over the years Gloria was an avid homemaker and with Rudy they raised their only son Kelly Dwayne. Throughout her life Gloria dedicated herself to taking care of Rudy who suffered from heart disease for 46 years. She was also a very dedicated, caring and loving stay at home mom who played a big part in her son’s life. Gloria was known as a determined, feisty, strong catholic and quite the joker, often the center of laughter at social gatherings. Gloria will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her deeply.
Rosary will be at 6:00 pm Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurrection will be at 10:00 am Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Alamosa Cemetery. Relatives and friends will be received at the Parish Hall following burial.
