MONTE VISTA—Lifetime Monte Vista resident Gladys Lucille Archer, 94, passed away in the Monte Vista Estates on March 13, 2018.
Gladys was born in Monte Vista, Colo. on April 7, 1923 to Henry and Martha Muller. Gladys married Henry C. Archer and spent 50 years of wonderful marriage with him before he passed away.
Gladys was very active in her church and in the community. She prided herself on volunteering her time and skills to help this community in many of their events such as the local health fair, as well as volunteering to be an election judge. She also served in her church as a Sunday school teacher for many years.
When Gladys wasn’t volunteering, you could always find her spending time with her family whom she loved dearly. She was very family-oriented and enjoyed playing with and watching her grandchildren, and supporting her children in all they did in life. Gladys also enjoyed playing cards with many of the local women’s groups and had fond memories of spending New Years Eve playing pinochle with her friends late into the night.
Gladys is survived by her daughter Linda (Don Evig) Archer of Greeley, Colo.; her daughter in law Glenda Archer of Monte Vista; her grandchildren Kristin (Daniel) Stambaugh, Traci (Steve) Chos and Ryan Archer; her great grandchildren Becca Stambaugh, Ty Stambough, Jake Chos, Jayven Evig, as well as one sister in law, four nieces and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Martha Muller; her loving husband, Henry C. Archer and her devoted son, Charles Archer, as well as three brothers, two sisters and two nephews.
A graveside service was held on Friday, March 16 at the San Luis Valley Cemetery in Monte Vista. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the Monte Vista Fire Department in care of the funeral home.
Rogers Family Mortuary of Monte Vista is in care of arrangements. If you would like to leave an online comment or tribute for the family please visit Gladys’s obituary at www.RogersFunerals.com
