Gerardo Rodriguez Aguirre

Posted

Gerardo was born July 12, 1965, to Antonio Rodriguez Gonzalez and Estela Aguirre Panuco in Mariano Matamoros Durango, Mexico. The oldest of his siblings Ricardo, Mayela, Antonio, Petra, BlancaEstela, and Maribel (three other siblings died as babies), he claimed his role as guardian.

He was a loyal son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend from beginning to end. He took every opportunity to make trips back to Mexico to spend time with family and support them any way he could. This led him to his small business in scrap metal, Mexican imports store, tamale guy, chile roasting guy, a mobile taco truck, and firewood sale and delivery. In which his children were instructed and also worked by his side.

He emphasized walking in faith, worship, humility, hard work, time for fun and relaxation. He was a sports fanatic all of his life. Some may know him from playing soccer, softball, and golf among other sports. He also kept his cowboy boots busy raising cattle and chickens at his 'rancho' and home.

Alongside them he always included his mother-in-law Arlene whom he lovingly called 'sweater' or mom because she was like a second mother to him. He always made sure she was taken care of as well.

However, his biggest passion was his ministry. He always had a love for music as did his wife. They jumped in with both feet and formed a band in which he played bass guitar to a genre that spoke to his soul, (Christian) Banda. This is a typical style of music from his Durango MX roots. He was an active member and leader in his church Iglesia Cristo Salva in Alamosa, Colo., for almost 20 years. Even in his weakest moments he humbly did his part. His faith was so great despite the cancer that was wasting his body away.

He left this world on April 19, 2023, and gave up that tired body and is now in the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Rejoicing with all of those who have gone before him.

He was preceded in death by his brother Ricardo, father Antonio, and his favorite aunt Francisca Hernandez Marchan.

He is survived by his loving and faithful wife Angelina Rodriguez Acosta, his children Mari Rodriguez, Ramiro Marino (Kalista) Fuentes, Claudia (Marcos) Rodriguez Cervantes, Naillali Rodriguez, Gerardo Rodriguez Irigoyen, Yesenia Martinez, AngelAmado Rodriguez, Emily Rodriguez, Azariah Rodriguez, and Adonai Rodriguez. Also survived by his mother Estela Rodriguez Panuco, brother Antonio Rodriguez, sisters Mayela Rodriguez, Petra Rodriguez, BlancaEstela Rodriguez Avila, and Maribel Rodriguez Avila and numerous nieces and nephews. Grandchildren Yovany, Marisol, Arleen, Janessa, Joel, Jenna, Zaiya, Neymar, Alizè, Amirah, Jariah, Camilo, Angelineah, Ramiro Jr, Aziel, Samarai, Analeah, Jaden, Geraldine and Evelyn will all miss their Nano.
