ALAMOSA — Lifelong Alamosa resident Geraldine Judith Romero, 80, went to her eternal rest on October 21, 2020, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Geraldine came into the world on October 10, 1940, in Alamosa, Colorado, the daughter of Joseph Fidel Lucero and Mary Sanchez Lucero. A few years after she graduated from Alamosa High School, she met the love of her life Bonifacio Romero and the two were united in marriage on January 3, 1964, in Aurora, Colorado. Geraldine devoted her life to her family and raising her children. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend who enjoyed being outdoors, gardening and spending time with her family and friends.
She will live on through her loving husband Bonifacio Romero of Alamosa, CO; sons Brian (Kathy) Romero of Lincoln, NB; Eric Romero, Daniel (Michaela) Romero both of Alamosa, CO; grandchildren Joseph Romero, Maya Romero, Cesar Romero, Isabella Romero, sisters Beatrice Lucero of Alamosa, CO; Regina (Tom) Bechtold of Albuquerque, NM; Loretta (Edward) Salazar of Aurora, CO; Eleanor Chandler of North Glenn, CO; brother Ralph A. (Kathy) Lucero of Loveland, CO. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Mary Lucero, grandparents Pedro and Rosa Lucero brothers Joseph Lucero Jr., Charles Lucero and brother-in-law Dave Chandler.
A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2020, 6:00 PM at the Romero Funeral Chapel in Alamosa. Another Vigil will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2020, at 9:30 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Alamosa with A Mass of the Resurrection to follow at 10:00 AM also at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
