Alamosa resident Gerald M. Mondragon passed away December 18, 2018 at the San Luis Care Center after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Gerald was born on June 4, 1962 in Alamosa, Colorado the son of Joe and Lena Mondragon. Gerald lived most of his adult life in Denver, where he worked as an electrician. Gerald was an avid sports fan and enjoyed all sports, including college sports. He especially enjoyed watching the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Rockies. Gerald loved riding his bicycle and he could be seen all over town and visiting with everyone he encountered. He always said, “his bike riding made him feel alive.” We truly believe that is what kept him alive longer than anyone thought he would live.
Survivors include his son Matthew Gallardo, sisters Nancy (Tom) Lambert, Gloria Maestas, Sandy Lopez, Marge Mondragon, Maria Valdez, Diane (Mark) Kissell, Leesa Mondragon, his brother Danny Mondragon, grandsons Isaac Gallardo and Milton Gallardo. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Lena Mondragon, brothers Dickie and Mark Mondragon.
Cremation was chosen and a Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 28, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Alamosa. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
