Monte Vista resident Gerald Irwin Marquez, 67, passed away on March 11, 2018. He was born on June 24, 1950 in Denver, Colorado to Gilbert and Annie Mary Marquez. He honorably served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam. Gerald had a long career as a teacher with the Jefferson R-1 school district. He retired after more than 30 years of teaching. He enjoyed fishing, camping, playing his guitar and had a fond love of music. He enjoyed supporting the Broncos, Nuggets and boxing. He will be remembered as a man with a true love for people.
Gerald is survived by his wife Rose Marquez of Monte Vista, his daughter, Irene Goodell of Broomfield, his sons, Roman Rodriguez of Monte Vista, Fernando Rodriguez of Thornton and Santiago “Jimmy” Marquez of Denver, his grandchildren, Silver Rose Goodell, Adam Mark Goodell, Karah Brooke Goodell, Jade Rodriguez, Stephan Fernando Rodriguez, Alexander Thomas Rodriguez, Andrew Ross, Joseph Rodriguez, Christopher Rodriguez, Isabella Rodriguez, Devian Angelique Marquez, Santino Eugene Marquez, Cimarah Maryann Marquez and Trevor Jeffrey Marquez as well as 3 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Veronica Pacheco, Dolores Romero, Marvella Martinez, Larry Marquez, Ronald Marquez, David Marquez, Irene Perra, Valorie Martinez and Kenneth Marquez as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Gilbert Marquez.
