MONTE VISTA — Monte Vista resident George Ross Espinosa, 86, passed away May 4, 2019 at his home with his loving family by his side. George was born May 18, 1933 in Conejos, Colorado, the beloved son of George Espinoza and Rosita Valdez Espinosa. He worked as a foreman for Stanley Starch for many years. He was a kind and loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend who enjoyed going fishing, hunting, camping, gambling, working on his yard, gardening and taking care of his dog Rusty. His greatest joy in life came from the time he was able to spend with his family and friends.
Survivors include his daughter Dolores (Jeff) Martinez of Las Vegas, Nev.; sons Kenneth (Gina) Espinosa of Las Vegas; Thomas (Tammy) Espinosa of Monte Vista; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, sisters Julia of North Carolina, Pinky of Colorado Springs; Henrietta Gutierrez of Antonito; and brother Carlos (Linda) Espinoza of Colorado Springs. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
George was preceded in death by his parents George and Rosita Espinosa, sons George Espinosa Jr. and Julian Espinosa.
A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Wednesday, May 8, at 7 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Alamosa. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held Thursday, May 9, at 10 a.m. also at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Alamosa Cemetery.
