PUEBLO—Garrett Horning of the Sangre de Cristo FFA chapter competed in the Colorado FFA Heifer Wrangle contest at the Colorado State Fair on August 28. Garrett competed against other FFA Heifer Wrangle participants from around the state in a breeding class and a showmanship class.
Garrett was first in the breeding class, second in showmanship with the combined scores placing him Grand Champion. Garrett’s heifer is sponsored by the Denver AG and Livestock Club and American AG Credit.
Garrett will finish out his heifer wrangle program at the Colorado FFA Convention in June.
Garrett’s Parents are Todd Horning and Gaylene Horning. Garrett’s ag teacher and FFA advisor is Matt Sinclair.
FFA is an integral part of Agricultural Education Division within the Colorado Community College System. The Colorado FFA Association currently has enrollment of over 6,200 members and 110 chapters. The FFA mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
