Friends of the Alamosa Library continue unwavering support

ALAMOSA — With the donation of $9,000 to support library programming, the non-profit group Friends of the Alamosa Library kicked off their goals in 2024, continuing their unwavering support for the Alamosa library and its needs.

These dedicated volunteers conduct book sales and many other activities to raise money for the library and advance literacy in the community. Throughout the year, they collect, sort and sell used books at Spines, the Book Nook inside the library and other locations in Alamosa. In addition, they create and sell journals and other crafts made from discarded books.

From these proceeds, they purchased a book bike, and stock it with free reading materials for community events such as First Fridays and the Farmer’s Market.

In addition, they maintain a large portion of the Little Free Libraries in Alamosa, making sure these free public boxes are well-stocked with books. They also help maintain the Story Walk in Cole Park that winds around the Alamosa City Hall.
