Fredrick Oscar Gibson was born on Nov. 29, 1936, in Bountiful, Colo., to Fred Thaine and Elva Loudell (Carr) Gibson. Fred passed away on May 17, in his home, in Bountiful.
Fred married JoAnne (Smith) and they had 4 children. He has 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Fred was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnne and a son, Martin.
He was in the transportation industry for a total of 74 years. The first 34 were providing trucking livestock, moving houses, and gasoline within the San Luis Valley. The last 34 were providing transportation for the National Nuclear Labs. Fred always credited his mentor, Lee Howes, for leading the way in teaching him diesel mechanics and about the transportation industry.
He expressed gratitude at the end of his life for the people of the San Luis Valley in giving him the opportunity to provide a living for his family.
At Fred's request, cremation was chosen, and no services will be held.
