Fred R. Martinez passed away on Feb. 26, 2025, at his home in Center, Colo., at the age of 83. Fred was born on Oct. 3, 1941, in Rio Grande County, He was born to Jose and Manuelita Martinez.
Fred was a heavy equipment operator for many years. After he retired, he spent time with his good friend George Barela and brother-in-law Gary Garcia. He also enjoyed fishing and watching tv among other things.
Fred will be sorely missed by his siblings, friends and nephews and nieces.
He is survived by sisters Margaret Ocana of Albuquerque, N.M., Beatrice Atencio of Monte Vista, Colo., and by one brother Gilbert Martinez of Alamosa, Colo. Also survived by numerous nephews and nieces.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents Jose and Manuelita Martinez. Sisters Bosalee Abike, Florida Grimaldo, Virgina Silva, and Lucille Garcia, and brothers Joe Martinez, Arthur, and Davide.
