Florence Rosebell Pacheco

Florence Rosebell Pacheco was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She entered the gates of heaven on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025, at age 77. 

Many family members were there to meet her at the gates to include, her loving husband, Benito James Pacheco, parents Antonio and Juanita Lucero. Brothers Max, Tony (Amelia), Felix (Doris), Sal and Chuck Lucero, nephew Anthony Ortega and niece Lori Sanchez. 

Florence will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Linda and son, Mark (Veronica), grandsons Shilo and Samuel, granddaughters Emily and Shaundie, sisters Lita (Augustine) Trujillo, Mary Griego, Roberta (Andy) Martinez, and Linda (Benjamin) Cortez, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and many friends. 

Florence was born on Nov. 11, 1947, in El Rito, N.M., to Antonio and Juanita Lucero. As a child, the family moved to Alamosa, Colo., where Florence grew up and graduated from Alamosa High School. 

In June 1972, she married the love of her life, Benito Pacheco. Together they had two children. 

Florence spent her working years advocating and assisting the residents of Alamosa and surrounding areas through her work with Care and Share and the ESL programs in the schools, earning many accolades. She was passionate about education and teaching the students from other countries how to speak English. She was an active member of the Catholic community at the Sacred Heart Church. 

Spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, was her greatest joy. She always extended a helping hand to family and friends in their times of need. 

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the many staff members of UC Health for their care and compassion. Mass of Resurrection Saturday, 11 a.m., Feb. 8, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
