Florence Barbara Pauline Hardy left her earthly body peacefully on September 16, 2017 in Monte Vista, CO. She was born on April 11, 1930 in Bonhomme, MO to Phillip and Pauline Schoettler. Florence had two younger siblings, Henry and Lillian.
Florence graduated from Eureka High School in 1948. Shortly after she met the love of her life, Robert Ray Hardy. On August 29th, 1950, Bob and Flo were married in a small ceremony in Arkansas. While in Missouri they gave birth to their daughter Sandra Lee and their son Robert Ray Jr. They then moved to Ohio, where their third son Steven Wayne was born.
After moving around with their children they eventually settled in Monte Vista where they owned a car lot. Flo also worked for the City of Monte Vista, and Empire Gas. After their children graduated high school in Monte Vista they moved Florida then back to the Colorado Springs/Pueblo area and were self employed in retail sales.
Bob passed away in October of 1989 and Flo continued on in sales until retiring and moving back to the valley in 2000. During her retirement Flo volunteered at the Alamosa Head Start, but mostly she enjoyed spending time with her family. Spending time with her grandchildren was always very important to her.
Florence is preceded in death by both of her parents and her husband, Bob.
She is survived by her children Sandy (Lyle) Dye, Robert Hardy Jr, and Steven Hardy; her grandchildren Jennifer (Dale) Becker, Robin (Wayne) Clutter, Robbie Hardy, Brian (Jennifer) Hardy, Steven (Stephanie) Kober, Tony (Laura) Hardy, Kari (Daryl) Basye, and Jeremy Hardy; her great grandchildren Corey (Courtney) Dye, Mackenzy (Bailey) Carroll, Casey (Amanda) Becker, Joshua Becker, Kearstin Hardy, Kylee Hardy, Brain Hardy, Chloe Hardy, Kayla Kober, Steven Kober Jr, Wyatt Kober, Alison Hardy, Chelsea Hardy, Toni Hardy, and Samantha Hardy; and great-great grandchildren Mateo Espinosa and Liberty Becker (COMING SOON!).
Cremation was chosen and a memorial service will be held at Rogers Family Mortuary in Monte Vista on Friday, September 29th at 10 am. Memorial contributions can be made to Conour Animal Shelter or Blue Peaks Residential in care of the funeral home office.
