ALAMOSA – The All-Intermountain League volleyball team was released earlier this month with eight players from the San Luis Valley being honored.
Five of the locals are from Alamosa and it was led by Aubrey Rothermich who was named the Player of the Year as well as being placed on the first team.
Rothermich led Alamosa in kills with 301 and blocks with 47, and service aces with 66. She also had 113 digs and 33 assists.
Also on the first team for the Lady Mean Moose were Morgan Ortega and Taybor Wiedeman.
Ortega led in assists with 725, and she also had 160 kills, 247 digs, 28 blocks and 50 aces. Wiedeman had 177 kills, 269 digs, 21 blocks, 42 assists, and 28 aces.
Alamosa players on the second team were Lily Heersink and Addison Rice.
Heersink had 103 kills, 21 digs, 40 blocks, four assists, and one ace. Rice led in digs with 317, and she also had three kills, 81 assists, and 35 aces.
The remaining three are from Centauri. Hannah Curtis was placed on the first team, while Joselyn McCarroll and Rylie McCarroll were both second team.
Curtis led in digs with 147, and she also had 21 kills, two blocks, 13 assists and 11 aces. Joselyn led in kills with 121, and she also had 75 digs, 19 blocks, five assists and 17 aces. Rylie led in blocks with 53, and she also had 66 kills, 16 digs and 11 aces.
Rounding out the All-League team were four players from Bayfield, two from Pagosa Springs, and two from Montezuma-Cortez.
Bayfield’s Terene Foutz was named the Coach of the Year.
